Scripture - - - therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the nations by faith, preached the Gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying; "In you shall all the nations be blessed." So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing … Continue reading True Sons of Abraham (Part 2)
Running Life’s Marathon 1
Scripture 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Comrades Sunday(03/062012) may have seen; one of the stiffest ultra marathons, probably in history. Who would dream they were able; to run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg in a few hours, completing it, ending strong. Other years, the marathon; may have been from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. Though I sometimes watch it on TV, or hear about it in the news, I still maintain that one needs to be in fairly good, if not; excellent health. You also need to have strength, durability and ultra fitness, to compete. This just so that you can have a medal to show that you participated. Maybe you have won the gold, the silver or even the bronze. Makes very little difference except, that you competed & completed, the race. Those who had taken the golden or the silver, spent much of their time preparing for the top prizes, recognition and/or honour. There is nothing wrong, with that, is there? No not really. Please don't misunderstand me or think, I am anti-marathon or anti-sport. For I do sometimes watch sport; now and then I may also watch the marathon and some other sports. Practice To practice any sport, takes self discipline, a certain amount of courage, and an almost certain, willingness to carry on; despite the odds. This is what our brave athletes, had to & still have to do. They practice, not losing hope, trying for their next medal, until they have received their necessary reward. Challenge Taking up their next challenge, they train themselves daily. For there is still the chance, for them to earn their laurel wreath, their gold medals, their winner"s shield. They taste their victorious cup, tell of their life's victories. All this for a corruptable, temporal crown which may only last a season. Life's Marathon But what about life's marathon? Does this have anything to do with sport, athletes, marathons and running? I would care to answer; carefully, clearly, wisely without any impartiality. Kingdom's Purpose Think of me not foolishly. You see Paul put it this way: "bodily (physical) exercise profits some what, for we need exercise, to keep us fit and healthy, for the kingdom's purpose. Run the Rcce Rum life's race as a champion would run theirs. We are to train as one would train, to win their marathons, Paul writes concerning these matters. He tells us how he trains himself, to complete his race. He tells us how he buffets his body; he trains himself as a good athlete, trains to compete, completing his race in victory Life is a Marathon Even as these athletes, train themselves in preparation for the comrades so are we to train ourselves to compete. We are encouraged to be well prepared for life's marathon. Remember life is sometimes a marathon, sometimes a sprint. Either way, we are to train daily, exercising discipline Their is much to say on this matter. Much to deliver and do elsewhere. So we shall carry on later, seeing time and space limits us, Remember we are to train & be willing to exercise daily. It is a daily renewal. In due course we shall have the victory.
