8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,9 Behold, I establish My covenant or pledge with you and with your descendants after you 10 And with every living creature that is with you—whether the birds, the livestock, or the wild beasts of the earth along with you, as many as came out of the ark—every animal of the earth.11 I will establish My covenant or pledge with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood; neither shall there ever again be a flood to destroy the earth and make it corrupt.12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant (solemn pledge) which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:13 I set My bow [rainbow] in the cloud, and it shall be a token or sign of a covenant or solemn pledge between Me and the earth.14 And it shall be that when I bring clouds over the earth and the bow [rainbow] is seen in the clouds,15 I will [earnestly] remember My covenant or solemn pledge which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy and make all flesh corrupt.16 When the bow [rainbow] is in the clouds and I look upon it, I will [earnestly] remember the everlasting covenant or pledge between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.17 And God said to Noah, This [rainbow] is the token or sign of the covenant or solemn pledge which I have established between Me and all flesh upon the earth. (Gen 9:8-17 AMPC).
16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God’s power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek,17 For in the Gospel a righteousness which God ascribes is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed through the way of faith that arouses to more faith]. As it is written, The man who through faith is just and upright shall live and shall live by faith.(A)18 For God’s [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. (Rom 1:16-18 Amplified).
15 For the Law results in [divine] wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression [of it either].16 Therefore, [inheriting] the promise is the outcome of faith and depends [entirely] on faith, in order that it might be given as an act of grace (unmerited favor), to make it stable and valid and guaranteed to all his descendants—not only to the devotees and adherents of the Law, but also to those who share the faith of Abraham, who is [thus] the father of us all.17 As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.(A)(Rom 4:15-17 Amplified Classic; AMPC)
7 Know and understand that it is [really] the people [who live] by faith who are [the true] sons of Abraham.8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify (declare righteous, put in right standing with Himself) the Gentiles in consequence of faith, proclaimed the Gospel [foretelling the glad tidings of a Savior long beforehand] to Abraham in the promise, saying, In you shall all the nations [of the earth] be blessed.(A)9 So then, those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favored by God [as partners in fellowship] with the believing and trusting Abraham.(Gal 3:7-9 Amplified)
16 But the truth is that they were yearning for and aspiring to a better and more desirable country, that is, a heavenly [one]. For that reason God is not ashamed to be called their God [even to be surnamed their God—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob], for He has prepared a city for them.(A)17 By faith Abraham, when he was put to the test [while the testing of his faith was [a] still in progress], [b had already brought Isaac for an offering; he who had gladly received and welcomed [God’s] promises was ready to sacrifice his only son,(B)18 Of whom it was said, Through Isaac shall your descendants be reckoned.(C) (Heb 11:16-18 AMPC)
20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled greatly and asked, How is it that the fig tree has withered away all at once?21 And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith .7uu(a [a]firm relying trust) and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will be done.22 And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive. (Mt 21:20-22 AMPC).
8 [Urged on] by faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go.9 [Prompted] by faith he dwelt as a temporary resident in the land which was designated in the promise [of God, though he was like a stranger] in a strange country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs with him of the same promise.(D)10 For he was [waiting expectantly and confidently] looking forward to the city which has fixed and firm foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God. (Heb 11:8-10 AMPC)
God of Covenant
As recorded earlier, God is a Covenant Keeping God. He also made a covenant with Adam & Eve in Eden. Later; He established His covenant with Noah, his family & the whole of creation (all flesh, & ev’ry one of His creatures). He cut covenant with Himself before Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel) & all his descendants. Afterwards God made His covenant with Moses, Joshua & David.
When the time had been fully come, He spoke to us through His Son; Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Jesus Christ our Messiah, Lord & Master o’er all). He (Jesus) is our Chief High Priest, the Mediator of a better Covenant; established on better promises!
Remember all God’s Promises have their yes & Amen, found in Jesus (see Heb 8:1-6; 2 Cor 1:19-21 NKJV). Because there was found no Greater Name in the Heavens above or the Earth below whereby man could be saved. God Swore by Himself thereby honouring His Word above His Name. He calls those things which be not as though they were.
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name’s sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do.11 But we do [[a]strongly and earnestly] desire for each of you to show the same diligence and sincerity [all the way through] in realizing and enjoying the full assurance and development of [your] hope until the end,12 In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but imitators, behaving as do those who through faith ([b]by their leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises.13 For when God made [His] promise to Abraham, He swore by Himself, since He had no one greater by whom to swear,14 Saying, Blessing I certainly will bless you and multiplying I will multiply you.(B)15 And so it was that he [Abraham], having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained [in the birth of Isaac as a pledge of what was to come] what God had promised him.16 Men indeed swear by a greater [than themselves], and with them in all disputes the oath taken for confirmation is final [ending strife].17 Accordingly God also, in His desire to show more convincingly and beyond doubt to those who were to inherit the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose and plan, intervened (mediated) with an oath.18 This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us].19 [Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot [c]break down under whoever steps out upon it—a hope] that reaches [d]farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil,(C)20 Where Jesus has entered in for us [in advance], a Forerunner having become a High Priest forever after the order (with [e]the rank) of Melchizedek.(D) (Heb 6:10-20 AMPC)
A Better Estimate
9 But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner. 10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of[c] love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
God’s Infallible Purpose in Christ
13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”[d] 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might[e] have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. (Heb 6:9-20 NKJ).
In the Beginning
We discover right in the beginning of time & creation, God had been there (Jn1:1-4 & Gen 1:1-31). He is the Pre-existing, Self-Sufficient God! He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End! (see Rev 1:8, 11. 17-18, 2:8, 4:8-11, 11:15-17, 16:4-5a, 22:12-14; Is 9:6-7 & Is 41;1-4). He is the All Sufficient God! He alone is God, besides Him there is no other. He had always existed, e’en before the eternity of all eternities. He had ne’er been bound by time.
When tracing Scripture, we see right in the Beginning of all Eternity; God, called creation into being. He spoke the whole of creation into existence. When reading in the Beginning, oft we find written: – “_ _ _ the Spirit of God was hovering (brooding) over the waters_ _ _ “(see Gen1:1-2)
We also read: –
God said; “Let there_ _ _
- be light & there was light
- be a firmament in the midst of the waters
- let it divide the waters from the waters
- let the dry land appear
- let the gathering of the waters be called Seas
- let the Earth bring forth grass, herbs bearing seed & trees bearing fruit
- let lights be in the heavens
- let them divide the days from the nights
- the Greater one rule the day
- the lesser one rule the night
- let them be for days & years
- let them be for times & seasons
- let them give light to the earth
- let the waters abound with an abundance of creatures
- let birds fly in the heavens
- let the earth bring forth living creatures after their own kind
- then God said: –
- let’s make Man in Our Image
- let them have Dominion
- God Created Man
- In His own Image
- Both Male & Female
- let them be fruitful, multiply & replenish the Earth
Then God saw it was good. Everything God created had been pure, righteous & good. He found no fault in His Creation. He is the Master Creator. He is the same yesterday, today & forever. God’s Great Love, manifested through out all of Creation. God doesn’t make a fault! He is Pure, Holy, Righteous & Perfect. He is no man that would lie. He spoke, called Creation into being, & it had been so. There had been no impurities at all. He is our Father of Lights, from Whom there is no shadow of turning (see Jas 1: 13 – 18NKJ). https://fertiileground.wordpress.com/2015/10/11/in-the-beginning/
John & others all testified of God’s intervention, in the Creation. He writes in Jn ch 1: –
1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ([a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God [b]Himself.(A)2 He was present originally with God.3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.4 In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.5 And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it]. (Jn 1:1-5 AMPC).
We find in the book of Hebrews the following record: –
3 By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.(Heb 11:3 AMPC).
1 In many separate revelations [[a]each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets,2 [But] in [b]the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order].3 He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the [c]out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high,4 [Taking a place and rank by which] He Himself became as much superior to angels as the glorious Name (title) which He has inherited is different from and more excellent than theirs. (Heb 1:1-4 AMPC).
