Life’s University of Hard Knocks©
Recently, ie as recently as Yesterday (Sat 19 Sept 2015); we watched the rugby game between South Africa & Japan. We had been aware of Japan being the proverbial underdog. What we had not known had been their working in unity. According to the info given, Japan had one win against Zimbabwe. So we had greatly underrated their performance.
Even my work colleagues believed Japan would be a walkover. Yet I had a check in my spirit. I told them we’re to be watchful, careful and on our guard. We should not underestimate their team.
Naturally my colleagues laughed me off. I had also secretly hoped that our national team, the Springboks would win their first international match. South Africa has a fairly good rugby record, which we had built o’er the years. Naturally, the whole of South Africa is standing behind the Boks.
What happened in this match, took our national team & our nation by surprise. We saw how the underdog through rare teamwork, overcame the previous world champions. They learned through sheer determination, watching their opposition’s ev’ry move. They worked together as a united team, thereby sealing their victory, for their first game.
This had been an historical event. Remember no matter how people may label you, They may not necessarily, have been through your life’s university. Yet through God’s Grace, we might be able to assist, help or train them. There is no greater school, university than life’s school & university. We may have some scars, disappointments to show, yet through Christ Jesus, we are able become overcomers.
We could have been down and out, yet God is Faithful, Who has promised to give us an outcome. The Lord always causes us to triumph, when we dilligently, earnestly & urgently seek His Face. When we seek Him, His Presence He shall be found by us.
He sets before us blessing or cursing, death or Life. He encourages us to choose Life. At times when we feel downcast then through Christ we are able to encourage ourselves in Him. Let’s learn from David’s example. Remember when he was downcast, he strengthened himself in the Lord.
Life, they say, is not fair. They’re probably right, yet life can also be a challenge. Tests and trials will come, this we cannot deny. How would we be able to stand, secure, when our foundation’s built on the sand. Jesus is the Rock of our Salvation. Therefore we need to build our foundation upon Him.
The Truth of the matter is, Christ Jesus is our sure Foundation. Truly there is no surer foundation than Him. He remains ever faithful! Always True! Although we may have fallen, been knocked off our feet,, let us not remain downcast. Let us through Christ Jesus our Lord, stand up again.
A baby doesn’t remain crawling, creeping, laying on the ground. He or she shall stand up and start walking. He/she may fall, but does not remain on the ground, he/she stands up and walks again.
Disappointments, failures, set backs may come. We may not pass them by, along life’s journey. We needn’t remain camped at “Fail Vale;” We are able to regain our losses, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Let’s us proceed to Victorious Overcomer’s Grove, Through Christ Jesus Triumphant.
Paul tells us; –
11 Now these things happened to them as an example and warning [to us]; they were written for our instruction [to admonish and equip us], upon whom the ends of the ages have come.12 Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]. 13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. (1 Cor 10:11-13 Amp)
We through Christ Jesus our Lord, shall be able to stand. Our Lord is able to raise us up from the ash heap, cause us to be seated among the princes of our people. We are also seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. He overcame the evil one, upon Calvary. Making a show of him openly, defeating him completely.
We needn’t always be the underdogs. Even underdogs, are able to come to the fullness of their stature. They need not always remain failures. Our Lord is able to turn our failures into success. He is sure to turn our life around, to one of greatness through Him!
11 For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. 13 Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’(See Jer 29:11-13 amp).
