5 Now Joseph had a dream and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him still more.6 And he said to them, Listen now and hear, I pray you, this dream that I have dreamed:7 We [brothers] were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright, and behold, your sheaves stood round about my sheaf and bowed down!8 His brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or are you going to have us as your subjects and dominate us? And they hated him all the more for his dreams and for what he said.9 But Joseph dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brothers [also]. He said, See here, I have dreamed again, and behold, [this time not only] eleven stars [but also] the sun and the moon bowed down and did reverence to me!10 And he told it to his father [as well as] his brethren. But his father Often rebuked him and said to him, What is the meaning of this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow down ourselves to the earth and do homage to you?11 Joseph’s brothers envied him and were jealous of him, but his father observed the saying and pondered over it.(See Gen 37:5-12 Amp)
Often the Lord gives us dreams and visions as to His mandate, direction for our lives. After all; He knows His plans, His thoughts which He has for us. Plans, thoughts of a future and of success . not of failure (see Jer 29:11).
We’re reminded to regularly, seek the Lord’s face. He does nothing without first letting His servants, the prophets know, of His plans. We are to lean and trust on the Lord with all our heart, not relying upon our own understanding. We need to dilligently seek, make our ways known to the Lord. Because He shall direct, make our paths straight. The Lord is Faithful and True to His Word. Whatever plans He has for us, He shall definitely fulfil.
We need to seek God’s Kingdom and His Righteousness first, then all these other things shall He give to us (see Mt 6:31-34). This often calls for us to spend time with the Lord, to hear from Him, that which He would have us do. Once we hear clearly from Him, we need to act in obedience, to His instructions, given unto us.
Write the Vision
The Lord encourages us to write the vision down, which He has given us. For it may yet be for an appointed time, which is to come (Hab 2:2). While we write down the Lord’s vision He has given us, we should have a clearer interpretation of His instructions. Yet; we need to say with Paul, “I have not lost sight of the heavenly vision.” (See Acts 26:19).
The Lord before His ascension, gave instructions to His disciples, whom were later called apostles, to wait upon the Lord. Then when the Holy Spirit came upon them, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. When the Spirit fell upon them, they received Power from on High, to be His Witnesses in Jerusalem, all Judea, all of Samaria and eventually; to the very ends of the Earth. (See Acts 1:4-12 ; Acts 2:1-41).
The Lord; stopped Saul; on his way to Damascus, changed his name to Paul, then instructed him, that which He required of him. That is when and where the Lord met with him. Earlier when Saul had been young, zealous for God, he stood by when God’s servant Stephen, had been stoned. There he hears Stephen, cry out: –
56 And he said, Look! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand!57 But they raised a great shout and put their hands over their ears and rushed together upon him.58 Then they dragged him out of the city and began to stone him, and the witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.59 And while they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, Lord Jesus, receive and accept and welcome my spirit!60 And falling on his knees, he cried out loudly, Lord, fix not this sin upon them [lay it not to their charge]! And when he had said this, he fell asleep [in death].(Acts 7:56-60 amplified.).
For this is when & where the Lord started dealing with Saul. Since he (Saul) had been zealous, he had been misinformed as to that which the Lord had planned for him, (ie his life). Yet God’s plans ne’er fail. Once the Lord’s hand is on our life, we’re not able to get away from His calling. For God’s Gifts and Calling are without repentance, (irrevocable); (see Rom 11:29.). He is alway ready, waiting for us to act upon His calling upon our life. He already knows our end from our beginning.
David had always been aware of God’s intervention in his life. He wrote about the Lord knowing the number of the days of our life (see Ps 139:13-18). The truth of the matter is: – the Lord has an intimate knowledge, of all our days. Yes; He even knows the very number of our hairs on our head. Not a single sparrow falls to the ground, without the Lord’s knowledge there of.
Now back to Paul; whose former name had been Saul. It was while Saul had been on one of his excursions, to try and stop God’s move upon the earth at that time. The Lord had been aware of Saul’s actions, all the time. While on his way to Damascus. The Lord met with him! He stopped him! Struck him from his horse! He asked him; “Saul, Saul, Why do you persecute Me?”
Saul knew it had been the Lord asking, speaking with him. He answered, asking: – “Who are You’ Lord?” He received his answer immediately, from the Lord: – “I Am Jesus, Whom you are persecuting. It is dangerous and it will turn out badly for you to keep kicking against the goad [to offer vain and perilous resistance].”
Saul asked, with trembling, astonishment & amazement; – “Lord what do You desire of me to do?” The Lord gave him a simple instruction: – “Go to Straight Street, there I will tell, give you further instructions.” Often the Lord meets us where we are at, before He further instructs us, as to that which, He’d have us do. Then He shall gradually give us His mandate for our lives. He gives us His Vision, Plans for us..
18 To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are consecrated and purified by faith in Me.(A)19 Wherefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision,20 But made known openly first of all to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout the whole land of Judea, and also among the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works and live lives consistent with and worthy of their repentance.(See Acts 26:15-20 Amp)
All the faith heroes, often had to walk this road alone, the Lord working through them with signs following . Regularly their faith had been put on trial. Their faith had also been rewarded. For without faith it is impossible to please God. Whenever we come before God, we need to believe God exists, He is whom He says; He is! He is also the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (see Heb 11-1-10).
When walking through Faith Gallery found in Hebrews 11. We find recorded all our Faith Heroes & Heroines lives. Their successes, failures , battles & victories. They all had this common bond of; faith, obedience, willingness & the price they paid with their lives. We find how the Lord instructed them. Gave them vision, understanding their willingness in fulfilling God’s mandate given them.
