Mind Your Thoughts
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.(Rom 12:1-2 NIV). (http://Blue letter bible.org)
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. (Phil 2:5-13 NKJ).
Taking Ev’ry thought captive_ _ _
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,i and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Cor 10:3-5 NIV)
You have multiplied, O LORD my God,
your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. (Ps 40:5 ESV)
Lord, we ask You to daily renew our strength, to be able to take ev’ry thought captive, bringing them into the obedience of Christ. Father we ask for Your supernatural intervention. Help us to be able to heed Your Voice. To be able to surrender our lives and thoughts to You, in Jesus Name.
You said if we lack Wisdom, and understanding, we are able to ask You; Your Wisdom, and it shall be added to us. When we honour You and give You 1st place all men shall know You are Lord. Jesus You are still Lord above all others. You o Lord have stood the test of time.
Father You are able to call all things that be not, as though they were. Your Name, o Lord is above every other Name. For Lord, it is written; ” that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father (see Phil 2:5-12 NKJ).
Agree with the Word
We see in the Scripture, the Lord spoke, calling those things which be not as though they were (see Rom 4:17). Even now; He still speaks. According to Hebrews 11:1 “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Through Faith we know all of creation, had been spoken into being. The whole of creation is held together, through the Word of God. Nothing ever came into being without the Spoken Word of God. who appointed Him
In the Beginning God created, the Heavens and the Earth. He said let there be Light and there was Light (Gen 1:1-7). It’s recorded in Scripture; Death & Life are in the power of the tongue; and when we partake of it, we shall bear the fruit; there of’; whether death or life. Our moral standing is determined, through our mouth(see Pr 18 :20-21 The words which come from our mouths, reveal what our hearts are filled with (Mt 12:34-37).
We are reminded, encouraged, to choose Life. The Lord sets before us death and life; blessing and cursing ; therefore choose life! Today; Joshua, still clearly, challenges us; to choose whom we are to serve. Even Solomon (aka the Preacher), reminds us to remember God; in the days of our youth. “REMEMBER now your Creator in the days of your youth_ _ _ ;” (Eccl 12:1a NKJ).
We need to realize, God’s Word, is near us, e’en in our mouth and heart. ’tis the Word o Faith which we preach, which we speak. For faith comes from hearing, hearing from the Word o God. We need to consider the Apostle and High Priest, of our confession; Christ Jesus; who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house. (Heb 3:1b-2 NKJ). We’re to hold fast the confession of our hope, without wavering, for He who promised is Faithful (Heb 10:23 NKJ).
We are aware that the Word of God is alive and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart _ _ _ (see Heb 4:12 NKJ). The Lord knows the very intent and every hidden thought of our heart. The heart of man is evil. The Lord is able to change our hearts. We are reminded that man, is not able to live on bread alone, but from every Word which proceeds, from out, of the Mouth of God.
God’s Word has life sustaining ability. Note, He spoke, calling out light be and there was light. God said and it was so. Even as He spoke those things into being, they came to pass. The psalmist knew the power and authority of God’s Word. He wrote Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path (Ps 119:105}. His Word is forever settled in heaven (see Ps 119:89). He satisfies our mouth with good things (Ps 103:1-5). Yes He even sent His Word out, healing us from all, our diseases (Ps 103:3b; Ps 107:20). We need to remember the letter kills, and the Spirit makes alive (see 2 Cor 3:1-8).
In fact we’re reminded to hold firm, to hold fast the confession, profession of our Faith, because Jesus is our Chief High Priest (This I handled in an earlier post). Our Lord one time spoke to a fig tree and cursed it, because it bore no fruit. The next day Peter noticed something and asked the Lord about this incident. At which our Lord immediately replied: –
“Have faith in God (constantly). Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt in at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place it will be done for him. for this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” (See Mk 11:20-26 Amp).
Know My Thoughts
11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.12 Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will release you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and all the places to which I have driven you, says the Lord, and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive. (Jer 29:11-14 Amp.).
8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.10 For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,11 So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.12 For you shall go out [from the spiritual exile caused by sin and evil into the homeland] with joy and be led forth [by your Leader, the Lord Himself, and His word] with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. (Is 55:-12 Amp).
The Lord clearly states His ways are not our ways. He always has good thoughts, plans , for us. These thoughts and plans are of good report. He formed, created, called those things into being. That which He has created, has always been good. The Lord does not make a mistake. He cannot lie! God is God! Remember, there is nothing that is hidden from our Lord. He knows our every thought.
This is one of the main reasons, why we are to take every one of our thoughts captive, bringing them in obedience to Christ Jesus. We need to have pure, holy, wholesome good reports. We are to regularly watch our thoughts. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ, whom though He was God, humbled Himself, in God’s sight and is given the Name above ev’ry other name; so that at the Name of Jesus; ev’ry knee bow, ev’ry tongue confess Jesus is Lord.1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. The Humbled and Exalted Christ5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men. (See Phil 2:1-12 NKJ.).
8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them] (Phil 4:8 Amp).
Our thoughts, that which we often think of can eventually determine our final outcome. We are reminded to commit our works to the Lord, then our thoughts will be established (see Pr 16:3 NKJ). The Lord”s many thoughts about us are precious. When we were born, we were on His mind.16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.17 How precious andweighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! [Ps. 40:5.]18 If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You. (Ps. 139:16-18 Amp).
5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered. (Ps. 40:5 Amp).
