Valley of Dry Bones 2
_ _ _Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O you dry bones hear the word of the Lord. (Ezek 37:4b Amp).
Ezekiel spoke to the bones as the Lord instructed him. While he looked he saw these dry bones join one to another, each bone to one another. He saw how flesh. Sinews and skin came upon these dry bones. Although he saw this happen, there had been no breath in them. We know our Lord created all things. It is written; “All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not one thing that has come into being. In Him was Life and the Life was the Light of men.” (See Jn 1:1-4 Amp).
When recapping the earlier section; we see even as he spoke; breath came upon these bodies. They began to live! They became a great army! We touched also on how the Lord is able to turn hopeless situations around. Remember Joseph had insight into these things. When his brothers came before him after Israel’s passing on, they had been fearful. They thought Joseph would get his own back on them. Yet to their amazement, he had not held a grudge against them. Although having much reason, to begrudge his brothers, he had not held record of their wrong.
Instead he chose, rather to forgive them. He believed that which the enemy meant for evil, the Lord would turn around for the good. He demonstrated God’s Love and forgiveness, toward them. The Lord raised him up to go before Israel, before his family and his brothers. He went ahead to prepare them; provide for them. The Lord knew ahead of time, that there would be a famine, throughout the land. The Lord provided for them.
Although the bones, sinews and skin grew upon them; there still had been no breath and life, found in them. The Lord speaks to the breath, wind and spirit to come from the four corners, to breathe upon them. He encourages us to do the same, prophesy, speak to the mountains, so we would be able to live. This is not done through our own abilities. It is through His spirit, we are able to speak. In Him we live and move and have our being. “Remember it is not by might, nor by power but through My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts!” The Lord quickens us through His Spirit. He is still the Giver of Life. Therefore it is no longer I that lives, rather it is Christ living, His Life in and through us.
Why had Israel become like dry bones? Why do believers become as these dry bones? What causes people’s hearts to become cold? Why do believers lose their first love?
Israel forgot their Lord, rather heeding to the enemy’s deception and lies. They took their eyes of the Lord their God. Through their actions they lost communion with God. They served and worshipped, man-made idols. They hardened their hearts, becoming rebellious toward God. Their hearts being evil, they sinned against their Creator. They forgot the promises given them, through God. They felt they are self-made men and women. It is written who has known the heart of man? The heart of man is filled with wickedness, because of original sin (see Gen 6:5; Jer 16:10-12; Jer 18:10-15). Although Israel had slipped up, backslid, departing from their Lord, they became as dry bones. Even we as the bride have at times lost our first Love, become cold towards our Lord.
We are reminded in Scripture our Lord shall never leave us nor forsake us. It is written He is married to the backslider; He woos us back to Him. Remember the Prodigal. As Israel had been cut off; so we as the Body of Christ; may be cut off (see Ezek 37:11, 37:5-11; Rev 3:14-11 & Rev 11:11). As in Ezekiel’s dry bones valley, of Israel; although no life was found; except when the spoken Word had been prophesied and uttered; over the dry bones. Even so we would be restored to life. One Word from God; can revive, restore us, cause us to Live and have Life. He spoke His Word over them, breath came upon them, and they lived. Jesus tells us: – “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life_ _ _” (Jn 14:6).
“I am the Resurrection and the Life_ _ _” (Jn 11:25 -26).
“_ _ _ I have come that they may have Life_ _ _” (Jn 10:10).
