We now consider Eph 1:7 in our study on God’s incomparable work of grace in the life of the believer. This verse must be carefully “unpacked” in order to fully appreciate the depth of experience the apostle Paul expresses therein.
As a reminder, this depth of experience is not so much a matter for theological investigation, but to justify the praises of the people of God. We might even conjecture that Paul is writing from the vantage point of personal spiritual experience more so than mere rational and intellectual curiosity. So often, as students of the scriptures, we want to comprehend and to understand the truths we claim to believe. We desire explanations for the Bible-based dogmas that we accept as truth.
