__Break up your fallow ground for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.(Hos 10:12b)
What does it mean to break up your fallow ground? I would think this is a perfectly normal question. When talking of fallow ground, a crop farmer would clearly tell you; it is ground which has not yet been prepared. Ground that has laid dormant for period of time.
It would probably consist of weeds, rocks bushes, trees and grass etc.
Before a farmer can sow his crops for the season, he has to prepare the soil. He needs to clear the fields from all rubble. Then he fertilisers the ground. He ploughs the field, after being certainly sure that his fertile ground,is ready to be sown and planted with that season’s crops.
The Heart of Man
Similarly so the heart of man, also needs to be prepared. Before the Lord is able to minister to man’s heart. He sends His. Holy Spirit and also a person to prepare our hearts. He breaks up the fallow ground, of these hardened hearts of ours; through the greatness of His Love.
For who knows man’s heart, better than the Lord Himself. For the Lord looks at the heart(1Sam 1/:7) It is written that the Lord, will replace our stony hearts, with hearts of flesh(Ez11:19)
A Heart Transplant
A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.(Ez 36:26 amp).
